9 February, Pontypool Gwent League moved to Pontypool Park, probably the toughest of the Gwent League venues. Remi Adebiyi is our best chance of individual gold in this year’s competition. Remi was 2nd in the U20 Men’s race but lies 1st overall by a commanding 13 points with one race to go. Luke Gawthorn was 6th in the race and now 5th on the leader board, while the team currently lies in bronze medal position. In U17 Men Spencer Smith was 4th and occupies 3rd place overall.

20th Welsh Inter Regional Cross-Country Championships
8th December, Llandrindod Wells Newport athletes packed the East Wales junior squads and struck gold as they traversed the twisting and muddy Llandrindod Wells course, plus silver in the Senior Men’s race. Our first gold came in the Primary Girls curtain raiser courtesy of Anya Brady, with Poppy Evans 13th. In the Primary Boys race Newport Harriers struck team bronze through Tom Garrod, Isaac Barry and James Owen. On to the main championship races and East Wales U13 Boys took

2nd December, Parc Bryn Bach, Tredegar The Gwent League came to Gwent for race 3 as athletes tackled tough and tricky terrain on the hill top of windy and wet Parc Bryn Bach. Newport’s U11 Boys lie 3rd in the team competition, spearheaded by Vaughn Thomas in 17th place, followed by Tom Garrod, Dylan Evans, Isaac Barry, James Owen, and debutant Cian Drohan. Gwent League & East Wales Cross Country Championships
Pembrey, 10 November Newport Harriers three second places in race 2 of Gwent League, and dominated the East Wales Championships taking 6 gold, 6 silver and 1 bronze in on the individualm podium, and 4 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze on the team podium. 13 October, Llandaff Fields, Cardiff The Gwent Cross Country League got under way last Saturday in ideal autumn conditions, soft to firm underfoot with just a tree trunk to hurdle to spice up the course. In what is Britain’s biggest cross country league there were the usual large entry numbers in each race, and Newport Harriers achieved six top ten finishes.
