YDL Promotion Swindon Match

Saturday 21 st July 2018

Our Final YDL proved to be the most exciting and heartbreaking match of the season for the promotion in Swindon.

Once again the weather was on our side and a strong Newport Harriers team gave 100%. From the word go, in both track and field we got off to a flying start and by event 12 we were leading. This continued throughout the day, only dropping down to 2nd place with only a few events to go. Unfortunately the gods were not on our side, decisions were made against us in both track and field. By the end of the day we came in fourth place by seven point, we came so close!

The main and most valuable lesson learnt from that day is that, the NEWPORT HARRIERS team’s FUTURE IS ON THE UP.

Many of our U15’s will be moving up an age group next season, taking with them a real sense of team commitment and team spirit. Our U13s will continue this on into their season, together with our increased numbers of qualified officials, that promotion spot will belong to Newport Harriers!

Without exception all athletes in track and field were phenomenal. Two of our athletes each ran or with each throw produced a PB. Ellie-Mae Wainwright and Cate Davies you were our joint U15 Athlete of the Match. Congratulations.
