Updated: Aug 23, 2018

19th August Swansea

Unusually for this summer we arrived at Swansea on a cool damp misty day. Fortunately for us the weather improved, and we had an excellent days athletics.

It was touch and go all day between us and Cardiff for 3rd and 4th positions, Newport finally finished just behind Cardiff in 4th place.

The under 11 boys team, Jorge Bishop, Harvey Willcox, Charlie Ferris, Ryley Fussell , Chase Alfred, Codie Alfred, Vaughn Hughes and Dylan Evans had an amazing day after a fantastic season finishing in 1st place in their age group. Most of these boys will be Under 13 next season which bodes well for the club.

The Under 11 girls team , Ella Ham, Anya Brady, Teagan Werner, Cerys Davies, Ava Stratford-Davies, Carys Edwards, Darcy Simmonds and Emily Walker finished in 4th place. This a young team as most of these girls will still be Under11 next year.

Well done to everyone.

Harvey Willcox and Charlie Ferris kicked off the day at the long jump, where Harvey had a new pb.

This was followed by the girls long jump where Ella Ham and Carys Edwards both gained new pbs.

The boys 75m sprints saw Chase and Codie Alfred compete. Chase came home in 1st place against some tough opposition in the A race getting ever closer to the club record and Codie came 2nd in the B race.

The girls race saw Ella Ham 4th in the A race and Darcy Simmonds 4th in the B race both were against very strong opposition.

Boys 150m once again Chase came 1st in the A race and Charlie Ferris came 2nd in the B race.

Ella Ham came 6th in the girls A race and Darcy Simmons 4th in the B race.

Girls 800m saw Anya Brady run a confident race to come home 1st in the A race and Emily Walker came 2nd in the B race with a new pb.

The boys 800m went off very fast and saw Vaughn Hughes come home 3rd in the A race with new pb. Dylan Evans came 4rd in another fast B race.

The boys shot saw Jorge Bishop get a new pb in 2nd place in the A competition and Codie Alfred was 1st in the B competition.

The girls shot saw Cerys Davies in 4th position and Ava Stratford-Davies getting a new pb in the B competition.

Ava Stratford-Davies had a new pb in the girls javelin A competition and Teagan Werner came 1st in the B competition.

Boys javelin saw Harvey Willcox 2nd in the A competition and Jorge Bishop was 1st in the B competition.

The day finished with the relays Under 11 boys were first to race and had an amazing race finishing in 1st place well ahead of the 2nd team and getting ever closer to the club record.

The under 11 girls relay team finished in 4th place with their fastest time this season.

I would like to thank Allision Werner and our great team of officials this season.
