Welsh XC Championships

24 February, Swansea
There was success for Newport Harriers at the 114th Welsh XC Championships on a crisp, sunny day over an undulating and hilly course.
Our top senior male was Abed Teweldebrhan in 9th place, with Craig Hudson 49th.

Our top U20 female was Phoebe Marsden in 9th place, with a massive pb improving her time by 2 minutes, 21.37.

Newport gained two medals in the junior races. Lily Williams won silver in the U13 Girls, while in U11 Girls Amy Garrod sprinting strongly at the end to hold on to the bronze medal position. Harry Dawes is a member of Newport Harriers and part of the junior endurance training group, and won silver in U11 Boys in the vest of Monmouth School.
For U13s/15s/17s, top 6 means serious consideration for the Welsh Schools team for the London Mini-Marathon, so as well as Lily Williams, Jackson Mountford will also be hoping for selection after he finished 6th in the U17 Men’s race.
