Welsh Junior League Match 3 Newport Under 11s

Saturday 30th June - Newport

On yet another hot and sunny day we fielded a strong happy Under 11 team of 14 girls and 13 boys.

We had an amazing day with the Under 11 boys coming home in 1st position and the girls in 3rd position. We had a total of 29 individual pbs, plus both boys and girls relay teams had overall pbs.

A massive thank you to all the officials and parents who supported us on the day.

We started with the boys and girls long jump. There were pbs for Carys Edwards, Cerys Davies and Teagan Werner in the girl’s event and pbs from Lewis Bagstaff and Alfi Belcher in the boys events.

In the 75, Ella Ham came 2nd with a new pb of 11.1s and there were also pbs from Darcy Simmonds, Carys Edwards and Millie Williams.

In the boys 75me Chase Alfred came 2nd with a new pb of 10.90 and there were also pbs from Codie Alfred, Josh Seal and Joseph Kulisa.

In the 150m there were new pbs for Ella Ham, Lily Eaton and Ava Stratford-Davies.

For the boys 150m Chase Alfred stormed home in 1st place with a new pb of 21.10. Charlie Ferris came 3rd with a pb of 22.30s and Riley Fussell 4th with a pb of 22.40. Looking good for our relay team.

In the girls 800m Anya Brady came eased comfortably home in first place with a time of 2.52.50 and there was a pb for Emily Walker of 3.07.00.

The boys race saw Vaughn Hughes win his race easily just outside his pb with a time of 2.43.70 and Sam Davison knocked 10s of his time with a new pb of 2.56.30.

Darcy Taylor, Cerys Davies and Jessica Lewington and Isabel Lewington all entered the shot with Darcy, Cerys and Jessica getting new pbs.

Jorge Bishop came 2nd in the boys shot with a distance of 6.14m and there were new pbs from Vaughn Hughes and Corey Miles

Teagan Werner came 3rd in the girl’s javelin and there was a new pb for Connie Bradley.

There were pbs from Henry Roach and Alfie Belcher in the boy’s javelin.

We were very confident our boys relay team of Codie Alfred, Charlie Ferris, Riley Fussell and Chase Alfred would do well. And so they did with Chase on the final leg storming home first in a great time of 60.30 nearly 2 seconds faster than the 2nd placed team.

The girls team of Darcy Simmonds, Lily Eaton, Ava Stratford-Davies and Ella Ham also had a very good race and finished in a new time of 64.00s over 1.5s faster than previous relays.

There were many fantastic performances which makes choosing difficult. Athlete of the match is Chase Alfred for his amazing sprinting in the 75, 150 and relay.

We have a fantastic team and parents should be very proud of them.
