Welsh Inter Schools Cross Country Championships

Brecon, 17 November

This is an all-Wales individual and team competition where athletes run for their school, and featured five members of Newport Harriers.

Leo Stark performed magnificently to win the U13 Boys race for Bassaleg against a stacked field. Leo established a 30-metre lead by the half-way mark of the 2-lap course and maintained this with some strong running to seal victory. This is the first time in my recollection of a Newport victory.

Also in the U13 Boys race Harry Dawes was 10th and the lead runner for Monmouth School who took team silver.

In the U15 Boys race Josh Jones was 15th and lead Monmouth School runner but his team just missed a medal in 4th place. Oliver Humphreys was 40th for Caerleon.

Ellie Robinson (Cardiff & Vale) was 9th overall in the Senior Girls race, and 2nd in the Welsh Colleges Championship. This will progress Ellie to selection for Welsh Colleges when they participate in the national colleges championships in April 2019.
