UK Inter-Counties Cross Country Championships

9th March, Prestwold Hall, Loughborough


Newport athletes swapped their black & amber vests for the purple of East Wales to compete in the UK Inter-Counties Championships. This is a high-quality national event which brings together the best cross-country runners from around Britain, and previous junior winners include a young Mo Farah.


Our highest finish of the day was Remi Adebiyi, 36th in U20 Men. Abed Teweldebrhan and Leo Stark were each 74th in Senior Men and U13 Boys respectively. Leo was followed in by Henry Evans and Thomas Weeks.


In U13 Girls Ceri Griffiths was in the top half of the field in 132nd place, followed by Amy Garrod and Freya Taylor. In U15 Girls Lily Williams was 157th followed by Elin Griffiths, Emily Wilcox and Ashleigh Steer.


Ellie Robinson was 164th in U17 Women, followed by Lowri Thomas, while Caitlin Jones withdrew injured mid-race. In U15 Boys Elur Urkola was 242nd followed by Josh Jones and Isaac Jones. Oscar Denton put in a steady performance for 254th in U17 Men.
