Updated: May 30, 2018

Sunday 27 May, Swindon

Team Gwent made their journey to Swindon on Sunday 27th May for the upper age group YDL match in wintery conditions and some thunderstorms on the way which would put most people off but not TEAM GWENT they pulled out all the guns and finished 2nd overall with 414 points just 60 points shy of Cardiff Archers.

By early afternoon the sun came out just in time for the sprinters to take to the track, all of our sprinters were on fine form some just marginally missing out on their personal bests but gaining valuable points for the team and putting us in the running were Jasmine Barraclough, Ashton Burnett, Finley Richards, Suwethan Preethiviraj and Amelia hill setting a fine example for the other athletes to follow, also gaining valuable points and running like the wind were Megan Selway, Finlay Bertram, Raheem Atkinson, Oliver Watkins.

In the 200m later on in the day saw Maisie Ovey set a personal best even after running a 300m earlier on that day and also an outstanding personal best performances set by Finlay Bertram in the 100m, 200m and long jump

Also in fine form where the middle distance athletes Spencer Smith, Joel price, Caitlin Jones, Remilekun Adebiyi.

Also adding valuable points to the team were Sherren balouch, Oliver Watkins, Joshua Davies, Oscar Denton, Micheal Owen, Joel price, Iwan Rees, Seren Jones, Elenor Parker and Elouise Spacey.

Team Gwent very impressive field athletes took to the stage and showed us just how it should be done and gaining some maximum points these were Amy Jenkins, Gwennan lewis, phoebe Brown, Eloise Spacey, Iwan Rees, Oliver Watkins, George Powell, Samuel Gill, Ffion prosser.

Putting the relay together came from Newport Harriers, Bleanu Gwent and Rhymney Valley to score an impressive 2nd place in the 4x100m in both the boys and girls team and also the boys 4x400m relay team, but gaining maximum points were the girls 4x400m relay.

A big thank you to all of team Gwent from Rhymney Valley, Blaenau Gwent and Newport Harriers without all athletes contribution from all three clubs we would not have a fantastic trio to make an outstanding team Gwent. Congratulations to you all and a huge round of applause for our athlete of the match Finley Bertram for all his hard work and dedication, setting 3 personal best performances and gaining an 8th welsh ranking for his age group.
