Remi Adebiyi wins of South Wales Argus Gwent Sports Awards Grassroots Personality of the Year 2018


Congratulations to Remi Adebiyi who was crowned South Wales Argus Gwent Sports Awards Grassroots Personality of the Year 2018. for his AAAs in the steeplechase.

Remi's coach Darryn McAtee was a finalist in the Coach of the Year category .

The finalists were decided by a judging panel including Argus editor Nicole Garnon and managing director Hussain Bayoomi have whittled down the nominees, across a range of categories, to come up with the finalists and the awards were presented by Linford Christie. Remi and Darryn found themselves in the illustrious company of some fantastic sports people from a range of sports, including Dragon's Welsh International Rugby stars Cory Hill, Elliot Dee, Hallam Amos, Newport County stars Ben White, Joss Labadie, Dan Butler and boxer Lee Selby.


The sports personality award was presented to Michael Flynn for his work with Newport County in staving off relegation last season and the FA cup run this season.


Former Newport Harrier Mica Moore was presented with a framed copy of the front page of the argus celebrating her fantastic performance in the bobsleigh in the winter Olympics.
