Harriers youth dominant at East Wales Cross Country Championship

Following on from a strong performance in the Welsh Cross Country Relays in Monmouth, Newport Harriers athletes were in dominant form at the East WalesCross Country Championships in Brecon. With individual victories in the Senior men's race,

under 13 girls, under 17 women, Under 11 boys, under 17 men, and under 20 men the club provided more winners than any other club present on the day.

Individual Medallists


Lilly Williams (under 13 girls), Ellie Robinson (under 15 girls), Harry Dawes (under 11 boys), Jackson Mountford (under 17 men), Owen Locke (under 20 men) and Abed Tewdelbrhan (Senior men)


Amy Garrod (Under 11girls), Harry Bradley (under 11 boys), Michael Owen (under 15 boys), Spencer Smith (under 17 men).


Ceri Griffiths (under 13 girls), Elin Griffiths (under 15 girls); Catrin Phillips (under 17 girls)

We also came away with team medals across the age groups

Gold in the under 11 girls (Amy Garrod 2nd, Anya Brady 3rd, Nia Parry 5th completeng the A team Betti Parry 15th, Paige Hughes 20th, Cerys Davies 21st and Connie Bradley 31st also competing well to complete a B team in the race);

Gold in the under 13 girls (Lily williams 1st, Ceri Griffiths 3rd, and Lily Hart 6th);

Gold and bronze in the under 15 girls (A team - Elin Griffiths 3rd, Bethan Morgan 4th, Ellen Parker 5th, B team- Ashleigh Steer 6th, Antonia Dawes 8th, Maisie Ovey 11th and Emily Wilcox taking 12th place);

Gold and silver in the combined under 17/20 women (A Team - Ellie Robinson 1st, Catrin Phillips 3rd, Anna Brown 4th, B team- Shireen Balouch 5th, Caitlin Jones 6th and Seren Jones 7th);

Silver in the under 13 boys ( Harry Russell 5th, Leo Stark 8th and Isaac Jones 9th, Joel Miles finished 18th);

Gold and silver in the combined under 17 and under 20 men's event (A team -Jackson Mountford 1st, Spencer Smith 2nd, Owen Locke 3rd; B team - Jake Seville 5th, Remiyi Adebiyi 7th, David Locke 10th; Emyr Thomas 11th and Luke Gawthorn 12th needed one more team mate to complete a clean sweep of the med

Worryingly no club in the region was able to turn out an under 15 boys team.
