Harriers excel at Quad kids competition

Updated: Dec 11, 2017

On Saturday some of the youngest members of the club took part in the Quad Kids Open meeting at NIAC and in the under 9s boys competition Harry Mansfield dominated with wins in the 50 metre sprint, the long jump and after negotiating his way past a fall in the 600 metres ran a superbly mature race to record the second fastest time of the day, behind team mate Dylan Evans. Harry also achieved a personal best in the shot to take the overall title. Dylan was third overall. In the under 11s age group there was some confusion during the medals presentation as at least one athlete's results were not fully recorded. Vaughn Hughes was a medallist in this age group. Newport Harriers had 14 competitors in a thrilling afternoon of sport.
