Gwent League moved to Pontypool Park, probably the toughest of the Gwent League venues.
Remi Adebiyi is our best chance of individual gold in this year’s competition. Remi was 2nd in the U20 Men’s race but lies 1st overall by a commanding 13 points with one race to go. Luke Gawthorn was 6th in the race and now 5th on the leader board, while the team currently lies in bronze medal position.
In U17 Men Spencer Smith was 4th and occupies 3rd place overall. Oscar Denton had one of his best races to come 22nd out of 38 runners in U17 Women Lowri Thomas had her best race of the season to grab 10th. Ellie Robinson was 16th but 9th on the leader board. Caitlin Jones (30th) and Seren Jones (32nd) completed our quartet to put the team 4th.
Josh Jones was our top U15 Boy, 12th in the race and 7th overall, backed up by Isaac Jones (39th) who won his personal duel against Oliver Humphreys (40th). In U15 Girls Lily Williams was 9th and now 9th overall, backed up by Elin Griffiths (13th), the improving Emily Wilcox (18th) and Ashleigh Steer (35th) to put the girls in bronze medal position.
Leo Stark could yet win gold overall in U13 Boys. 4th on the day, he lies 2nd overall two points behind the leader. Henry Evans was our second top 10 U13 Boy in 6th place, followed by Finlay Davies who was 24th in the 72-strong field. Amy Garrod was 7th in U13 Girls, backed up by Aratz Urkola (51st) and Paige Hughes (76th).
Our highest overall U13 athlete is Anya Brady in 4th position. Anya was 15th in Pontypool, followed in by Izaro Urkola (29th), Emily Walker (32nd), Teagan Werner (41st), Poppy Bevan (71st), Connie Bradley (88th), Millie Williams (89th) and Ffion Williams (105th). Our U13 Girls are 4th in the team competition.
We had a host of U13 Boys as well. Vaughn Hughes was our top finisher in 14th place, followed by Dylan Evans (34th), Tom Garrod (45th), Isaac Barry (64th), 9-year-old debutant Sebastian Humphreys (81st), James Owen (83rd), Akash Shetty (99th) and Henry Faulkner-Clegg (102nd). Our U13 Boys are 4th.
Our only senior was Chloe Powell in the Women’s race, 129th out of 218
