Exeter Combined Events Open

23 September, Exeter

Three Newport athletes attended this annual competition.

Caris Morgan and Shireen Balouch took gold and silver respectively in the U20 event in what was for each their debut (1-day) heptathlon. Caris’ aim was to set a benchmark and her score places her 6th on senior Welsh rankings. Caris recorded a Season Best in high jump. Shireen did a KJT in high jump by scoring nil points. This was event 2 but Shireen responded with a string of individual PBs in shot, long jump, javelin and (wind-assisted) 200m.

In the U13 Boys pentathlon Harry Bradley was up against stiff opposition in the form of Southampton’s Travis Scottow (no. 1 in UK for shot, discus & high jump). Harry’s best event of the day was high jump where he soared practically head height for a 1.30m PB.
