England Athletics U20/U23 Championships

16/17 June, BedfordEngland U20/U23 Championships draw in the best junior athletes in the country, including those who have already competed at major international competitions – Morgan Lake, Hannah Brier, Molly Caudery. Prominent spectators included ex-elite athletes Jenny Meadows, Aston Moore, Kelly Sotherton and James Thie.

Newport Harriers’ sole entrant was Remi Adebiyi in U20 1500m, and he was competing, among others, against the current European U20 champion Jake Heyward. Remi was one of the lower ranked athletes but ran an outstanding race in the semi-final to qualify for the Sunday final. Saturday’s race was still in his legs the following day and Remi finished off the pace in 12th place in the final, but overall it was a successful weekend, achieving the main aim of reaching the final.
